Nisan 9 – Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you…

Nisan 9, 5784; from sunset April 16, 2024, to sunset April 17, 2024

This is the name Yehoshua (Joshua); Joshua means “The LORD Saves.”  The top image was written ~2,000 years ago and was found among the Dead Sea Scrolls.  The bottom image was written ~1,000 years ago and is from the Aleppo Codex (the Crown of Aleppo).  The top image was written on a scroll, possibly in Qumran, near the Dead Sea.  The bottom is in a bound manuscript, written in Tiberias, near the Sea of Galilee, which later made its way to Aleppo (Syria). The Aleppo Codex is now housed in the Shrine of the Book alongside the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Israelites Prepare to Enter the Promised Land

Today in the Bible, Joshua sends out his officers to give the Israelites their last-minute instructions for crossing over the Jordan River and into the Promised Land.

After three days the officers went throughout the camp, giving orders to the people:  “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it.  Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before.  But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between you and the ark; do not go near it.”  Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.” – Joshua 3:2-5 (NIV)

Join us again tomorrow, it will be a BIG day for Joshua and the children of Israel as they finally cross over and step foot into the Promised Land!
