Today in the Bible

And they led Him away to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas who was high priest that year.  Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.  And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple.  Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and went with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest.  But Peter stood at the door outside.  Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought Peter in. – John 18:13-16

Now the servants and officers who had made a fire of coals stood there, for it was cold, and they warmed themselves.  And Peter stood with them and warmed himself.

The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.  Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world.  I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.  Why do you ask Me?  Ask those who have heard Me what I said to them.  Indeed they know what I said.”

And when He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Do You answer the high priest like that?”

Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why do you strike Me?”

Then Annas sent Him bound to Caiaphas the high priest. – John 18:13-24

…where the scribes and the elders were assembled.  But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard.  And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end.

Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none.  But at last two false witnesses came forward and said, “This fellow said, `I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’“  – Matthew 26:57-61

But not even then did their testimony agree.  And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, “Do You answer nothing?  What is it these men testify against You?” – Mark 14:59-60

But Jesus kept silent.  And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God:  Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!” – Matthew 26:63

But He kept silent and answered nothing.  Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” – Mark 14:61

“If You are the Christ, tell us.”

But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will by no means believe.  And if I also ask you, you will by no means answer Me or let Me go.” – Luke 22:67-68

Jesus said to him, “It is as you said.  Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.” – Matthew 26: 64

“Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God.”

Then they all said, “Are You then the Son of God?”

So He said to them, “You rightly say that I am.” – Luke 22:69-70

Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “What further need do we have of witnesses?  You have heard the blasphemy!  What do you think?”  And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death. – Mark 14: 63-64

Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him.  And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, “Prophesy!  Who is the one who struck You?”  And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him. – Luke 22: 63-65

Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed…

Now as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came.  And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked at him and said, “You also were with Jesus of Nazareth.”

But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor understand what you are saying.”  And he went out on the porch, and a rooster crowed. – Mark 14:66-68

And when he had gone out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to those who were there, “This fellow also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

But again he denied with an oath, “I do not know the Man!” – Matthew 26:71-72

One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, “Did I not see you in the garden with Him?” – John 18:26

 “…Surely you also are one of them, for your speech betrays you.” – Matthew 26:73

Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know this Man of whom you speak!” – Mark 14:71

 “…Man, I do not know what you are saying!”  Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. – Luke 22:60

…Then Peter called to mind the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.”  And when he thought about it, he wept. – Mark 14:72

And the Lord turned and looked at Peter…  – Luke 22:61

Immediately, in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate. – Mark 15:1

Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium, and it was early morning.  But they themselves did not go into the Praetorium, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover. – John 18:28
