Tishrei 10 – Behold, there was a great multitude standing before the throne…

Tishrei 10, 5785; from sunset October 11, 2024, to sunset October 12, 2024

(The tenth day of the seventh month)

This is the name “Yeshua” (יֵשׁוּעַ – Jesus) as seen on the James Ossuary. Yeshua comes from the verb “yasha” meaning “to save or deliver.” Yeshua means “Salvation.”

We’ve spent the last few days studying the Day of Atonement.  The book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ shows us what lays in store for us in the future.  Using what we’ve learned over the past few days, read the excerpt below with new eyes and make a listing of what you see.

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever.  Amen.”

Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?”

And I said to him, “Sir, you know.” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.  Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple. And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them.  They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” – Revelation 7:9-17 (NKJ)

The first thing that strikes me is that we have a “great multitude standing before the throne;” whereas, on the Day of Atonement, the High Priest was the only one allowed.  This tells us that something spectacular has happened.  A Great Atonement.  A multitude of sinless people…all wearing white…all of those who have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb and made them white.

Just as the High Priest had to bring the blood of the bull to make atonement for his sins before he could approach the throne; the multitude had to have the blood of the Lamb to atone for their sins so that they could come before the throne.  Now, “They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore;” another allusion to the Day of Atonement when we “afflict our souls” and refrain from food and drink.

The Bible tells us that there will be a lot to go through to get to this day.  But the more we learn about the autumn Appointed Times, the better we understand them, and the greater chance we have to see how events fit into God’s plan to redeem His fallen creation.  Instead of living in fear, we can live in understanding and with a focus upon the end goal…the Great Jubilee…where everything returns to its original owner.  A world where Adam and Eve can return to the Garden and dwell with God once again.  But, this time, they won’t be there alone.

Just a reminder that it’s tradition to read Psalm 27 daily through the Feast of Tabernacles. You can find it by clicking on the link.
