Tishrei 11, 5785; from sunset October 12, 2024, to sunset October 13, 2024
(The eleventh day of the seventh month)

This is the name “Yeshua” (יֵשׁוּעַ – Jesus) as seen on the James Ossuary. Yeshua comes from the verb “yasha” meaning “to save or deliver.” Yeshua means “Salvation.”
Jesus & His Brothers Head for Jerusalem
Yesterday was the Day of Atonement. A Sabbath day of complete rest and a time to afflict our souls. Jesus and his brothers likely spent the day fasting in the Galilee. They probably gathered the next morning to start their 100-mile-long journey to Jerusalem in order to be there in time for the Feast of Tabernacles, just five days from now.
Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. His brothers therefore said to Him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing. For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.” For even His brothers did not believe in Him.
Then Jesus said to them, “My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready. The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it that its works are evil. You go up to this feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, for My time has not yet fully come.” When He had said these things to them, He remained in Galilee.
But when His brothers had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. – John 7:2-10 (NKJ)
The Feast of Tabernacles, also known as Sukkot or the Feast of Booths, is one of the three pilgrimage festivals on God’s list of Appointed Times in Leviticus chapter 23. We’ll learn more about the Feast of Tabernacles in the coming days and remember the events surrounding Jesus’ pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
Just a reminder that it’s tradition to read Psalm 27 daily through the Feast of Tabernacles. You can find it by clicking on the link.
