Tishrei 20 – He who sits on the throne will dwell among them…

Tishrei 20, 5785; from sunset October 21, 2024, to sunset October 22, 2024

(The twentieth day of the seventh month)

This is the name “Yeshua” (יֵשׁוּעַ – Jesus) as seen on the James Ossuary. Yeshua comes from the verb “yasha” meaning “to save or deliver.” Yeshua means “Salvation.”

The book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ contains many veiled references to the fall Appointed Times.  Let’s employ the things we’ve learned about the Feast of Tabernacles as a tool to dig some nuggets out of John’s vision.  While we’re at it, we can probably find some allusions to the Day of Atonement as well.  Make a list and let’s compare notes at the end.

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying:  “Amen!  Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever.  Amen.”

Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes, and where did they come from?”

And I said to him, “Sir, you know.”  So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.  Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple.  And He who sits on the throne will dwell among them.  They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any heat; for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and lead them to living fountains of waters.  And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” – Revelation 7:9-17 (NKJ).

Well, what did you find?  Here’s our list:

Ok, ok, we haven’t talked about “salvation” and “living waters” and their connection to the Feast of Tabernacles yet (you can join us tomorrow for that); but how did you do on the rest of them?  Did you find anything we didn’t?

In his vision, John sees people from all nations and tribes coming to Jerusalem – we just read about this in Zechariah 14 where he prophesied that all nations would come up to Jerusalem during the Feast of Tabernacles.  The white robes allude to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.  The palm branches refer to the branches we are commanded to wave during the Feast of Tabernacles.  The verses speak of a time when He who sits on the throne will dwell – tabernacle – with us; and that we will hunger or thirst no more – the fasting and afflicting of our souls on Yom Kippur will be no more – there will be no more fast days – they will be turned into times of rejoicing – which we are commanded to do by God – during the Feast of Tabernacles.

Learning about the LORD’s Appointed Times can help you unlock a greater understanding of the book of Revelation, and the entire Bible.  They are God’s plan for the redemption and restoration of the world.
