Nisan 15, 5785; from sunset April 12, 2025, to sunset April 13, 2025
(The fifteenth day of the first month)

This is the name “Yeshua” (יֵשׁוּעַ – Jesus) as seen on the James Ossuary. Yeshua comes from the verb “yasha” meaning “to save or deliver.” Yeshua means “Salvation.”
Today in the Bible, we’re returning to the story of Jesus to read what happened the day after He was placed in the tomb. It’s now the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Luke records that the women who were with Jesus rested on this day, according to the commandment. Matthew, on the other hand, records that the chief priests and the Pharisees met with Pilate in order to have the tomb secured.
They Rested on the Sabbath
The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it. Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment. – Luke 23:55-56 (NIB)
They Made the Tomb Secure
The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, `After three days I will rise again.’ So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”
“Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard. – Matthew 27:62-66 (NIB)
