Tammuz 1, 5785; from sunset June 26, 2025, to sunset June 27, 2025
(The first day of the fourth month)

This is the name “Yosef” (Joseph) as seen in the Aleppo Codex, written over one thousand years ago.
Though the Bible does not give us a date for the birth or death of Joseph, tradition places them both on this date. Joseph was the long-awaited first-born son for Rachel and the eleventh for Jacob.
Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb. And she conceived and bore a son, and said, “God has taken away my reproach.” So she called his name Joseph, and said, “The LORD shall add to me another son.” – Genesis 30:22-24 (NKJ)
The name Joseph (Yosef) comes from the Hebrew verb “yasaf” which means to add, increase, or do again – as Rachel indicated when she named him. Joseph became his father’s favorite son. That, and his dreams of superiority over his brothers, caused enmity between them. We all know how the story goes, the brothers strip Joseph of his beautiful coat and send him off to Egypt as a slave while telling his father a wild animal had killed him. While in Egypt, Joseph is enslaved, imprisoned, and ultimately exalted to the second most powerful man in the land. Because of the insight given to him by God and his obedience to act on the vision, Joseph was able to “save the whole word.”
Joseph’s life bears a striking resemblance to that of our Messiah, Yeshua. Try reading through his story and comparing it to Jesus’. See how many parallels you can find, and you will be amazed!
